My Tongue: The Pen of a Ready Writer
"My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer." – Psalm 45:1
Overflowing with Praise
The psalmist begins with a heart full of a good theme—a song of love and devotion to the King. When our hearts are stirred by God’s goodness, our words naturally follow. Like a writer whose pen flows freely with inspiration, our tongues should be ready to declare His truth, love, and promises.
Speaking Life and Truth
Every word we speak has power. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that “death and life are in the power of the tongue.” When we allow God’s Word to fill our hearts, our mouths become instruments of His will, writing His truth into the atmosphere around us. Whether through encouragement, prayer, or testimony, our words can shape lives and draw others closer to Him.
A Willing Messenger
Being a ready writer means we are prepared to speak when the Spirit prompts us. This readiness requires time in the Word, intimacy with God, and a heart that is yielded to Him. When we abide in His presence, our speech naturally reflects His character—full of grace, wisdom, and love.
Reflection & Application
🔹 What words are flowing from your mouth today? Are they edifying, encouraging, and full of life?
🔹 How can you allow God to use your tongue as a pen to write His truth into your life and the lives of others?
🔹 Spend time meditating on Scripture, and ask God to align your speech with His will.
Prayer
Lord, let my tongue be a pen ready to declare Your goodness. Fill my heart with Your Word so that my speech reflects Your truth and love. May my words encourage, heal, and inspire others to know You more. Use me as Your vessel, that my life may be a testimony of Your faithfulness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
